It's Starting to Come Together

The center is beginning to look less like a construction zone and more like a usable space. We're beginning to paint and have been installing ceilings, lighting, and plumbing fixtures. Installation of the flooring will begin in the next two weeks.

Those Blue Stripes are Temporary

In progress on the music performance center's exterior walls: the metal studs and the masonry. When finished, the building won't be gray with blue stripes!

Interior work: Installation of the sprinkler system, duct work, and mechanical piping.

Electrical pathways are mostly in place. Drywall partitions have begun. Roofing will continue next week and the last of the concrete floors will be poured as well.

Big Crane Moves Concrete Panels into Place

Nearly all of the concrete panels are now installed. At 33,000 pounds apiece, the panels have been moved into place with the help of a 660-ton crane (same weight as 94 large African elephants).

An earlier photo shows the size of the crane, which extends to a height of 200 feet — which is taller than the Leaning Tower of Pisa and Cinderella's Castle at Walt Disney World.

Starting the week of Sept. 25:

  • the second phase of steel erection
  • the first phase of roofing
  • masonry cladding
