About Glazer Music Performance Center

Jane and Laurence Glazer Music Performance Center

550-seat performance hall and education center to open in 2018

Benefits:
  • The new hall's stage will be twice as large as the existing Linehan Chapel's, to enable more musicians to perform together and to allow richer collaborations of video, literature, and sound. The College's musicians need more space. Large ensembles continue to grow, now including a 70-person concert choir, 70-piece orchestra, 65-piece wind symphony, 55-piece symphonic band, 40-person chamber choir, and 25-piece jazz ensemble. More musicians are coming. The College recently started a Master of Music graduate program in performance and pedagogy and a bachelor's degree in composition.
  • The new space will be acoustically designed for large instrumental ensembles. The existing chapel is designed for choral music and the Arts Center's Wilmot Recital Hall will continue to host solo and chamber music recitals.
  • Enables expanded community partnerships, including with the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
